A WARNING ABOUT OSTRICH FEATHERS |
Educate yourself. Ostrich Feathers have become very popular and there are a lot of new companies out there that are offering them, but not all Ostrich Feathers (or companies) are the same. There are different types available and very few people really know one type from another. The best to use for tall centerpieces are Wing Plumes. Because feathers are a natural product, they come in many shapes and sizes, as well as different quality grades. For sizing, you will need at least a 4-6 " difference from the shortest feathers to the longest to create the proper effect in a tower vase. Quality is also an important factor that only some people take into consideration, and when it comes to feathers, you typically get what you pay for. We import from the source and as a result, can afford to offer the best pricing for the best quality available. However, we have occasionally been told by some that they've found better pricing from other suppliers. At first glance that may be true, but this is where the danger lies: companies that don't specialize in feathers. Due to the newfound popularity of Ostrich Feathers for centerpieces, there are many new companies that don't specialize in feathers that are trying to jump in and join in the profits. Most (but not all) of these companies know absolutely nothing about feathers and are willing to substitute materials and sacrifice quality for the sake of making a sale. Many of them don't even handle the feathers themselves. They work with companies that drop ship for them. We do supply to some of these companies so they're not all bad. Though we are not the only company out there that sells feathers, we have every confidence that you will be more satisfied with our quality, pricing, and customer service than with any other feather supplier. Our #1 Ostrich Wing Plumes are hand selected for quality, then steamed by us in our own warehouse. The process of steaming eliminates all twists and wrinkles in the feather fibers and is actually a very time consuming process. This is something most other suppliers won't do and companies that don't specialize in feathers don't even know should be done. So while you're scouring the internet for the best pricing out there, be very cautious when you finally decide on making a purchase. If you find a company that doesn't specialize in feathers and offers pricing too good to be true, it probably is. |
